Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program
The Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Program (MSP) promotes the education of students who are scientifically competent, compassionate and socially conscious. Rice and Baylor College of Medicine select up to 6 incoming freshmen each year to pursue a four-year bachelor's degree at Rice, followed by guaranteed admission to Baylor College of Medicine.
MSP students are encouraged to explore the entire range of Rice undergraduate programs to expose themselves to a broad-based education. Ideally, students selected to the program will apply insight from this extensive exposure to the liberal arts and other disciplines to the study of modern medical science.
- Students must submit a
complete admission application and the
Rice/Baylor Application by December 1 to compete in this program. The preferred method of application submission is via your Rice Admission Student Portal using the Upload Materials tool. If submission via your Student Portal is not an option, mail your application to Rice Office of Admission – MS 17, P.O. Box 1892, Houston, Texas, 77251-1892. Please refer to the
Admission and Financial Aid Calendars for details.
- Students interested in the MSP may apply to Rice as Early or Regular Decision candidates. Early Decision applicants must commit to Rice by January 1, regardless of the Baylor decision to be made later in the spring. Early Decision applicants to Rice must submit all Rice application materials by November 1; however, the Rice/Baylor Medical Scholars Application does not have to be submitted until December 1.
- After Regular Decision applicants have been notified of their admission decision, the Baylor College of Medicine notifies those finalists who have been selected for an interview. Interviews at the Baylor College of Medicine are conducted in April.
- The Rice/Baylor Scholars are announced in late April.
