Undergraduate Admission
Rice: Unconventional Wisdom

Seeking Opportunities at Rice (SOAR)

A core value guiding Rice University is the belief that there should be "no upper limit" on the educational endeavor of our community. An integral part of that mission is the pursuit of a broadly diverse student body which increases the intellectual vitality of education, scholarship, service and communal life at Rice. We seek students of keen intellect and diverse backgrounds who not only show potential for success, but who will contribute to the environment around them.

Each fall, the Rice University Office of Admission hosts a select number of prospective students who are Seeking Opportunities at Rice (SOAR). SOAR is a great opportunity to gain insight into Rice by staying overnight on campus with current undergraduates, attending classes, meeting with professors and alumni, and experiencing campus life at Rice.

This is a travel grant opportunity for prospective students that occurs alongside our Discover Rice (Open House) program, so SOAR participants benefit from the activities planned for both of these on-campus events.

SAVE THESE DATES: SOAR events begin on Saturday, September 30, 2017 and conclude on Monday, October 2, 2017. Click here to view the Tentative Schedule.
