Seeking Opportunities at Rice (SOAR)
Students rave about the SOAR experience:
"It was my privilege to be able to attend this program, as it reinforced my presumptions on how much I want to attend this school. Not only am I thankful for the hospitality and generosity I have received from the faculty and fellow SOAR “prospies”, but for my host. In addition, the activities and events planned for us were, to say the least, entertaining and informative. Particularly, the student panel assured me that Rice is a place where people of all shapes and sizes would feel like a part of something truly meaningful."
– Augusto Bartolome De las Casas, Rice Class of 2020
"SOAR was absolutely amazing. I had an amazing host who was very helpful and fun to be around. I fell in love with Rice during SOAR because of the culture and people at the residential colleges."
Each fall, the Rice University Office of Admission hosts a select number of prospective students who are Seeking Opportunities at Rice (SOAR). SOAR is a great opportunity to gain insight into Rice by staying overnight on campus with current undergraduates, attending classes, meeting with professors and alumni, and experiencing campus life at Rice.
This is an invitation-only program for prospective students that occurs alongside our Discover Rice (Open House) program, so SOAR participants benefit from the activities planned for both of these on-campus events.
