The 2014 issue of R2: The Rice Review receives national recognition
The 2014 issue has been awarded the AWP's Directors' Prize for Best Undergraduate Literary Magazine in the area of Content. It features a wide range of consistently outstanding poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and visual art.
D.R.A.D.I.S. wins Engineering Design Showcase
Team D.R.A.D.I.S. was a double winner at the annual George R. Brown School of Engineering Design Showcase at Rice University for its development of a dynamic radar and digital imaging system to help drivers avoid accidents.

Winners announced for 2015 Rice Undergraduate Research Symposium
More than 250 students competed for cash prizes in the annual campus-wide Rice Undergraduate Research Symposium April 15. Students in all disciplines had a chance to share their research and design projects with the Rice and Houston communities through displays and presentations at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Rice to offer new interdisciplinary minor in politics, law and social thought
What is freedom? Are states necessary? What is the function of government? What are the foundations of law? Beginning in the fall, Rice’s School of Humanities and School of Social Sciences will offer a new interdisciplinary minor addressing these and other big questions in political theory and law.
Shots without the "Ouch"
If the Rice University freshman engineering design team Comfortably Numb has it their way, children will be less fearful and feel less pain when they go to the doctor's office for a shot. The research team includes freshman Greg Allison, Andy Zhang and Mike Hua; they were guided by Ann Saterbak, professor in the practice of bioengineering education, and Jane Grande-Allen, the Isabel C. Cameron Professor of Bioengineering.

Rice students win BP's engineering prize for water treatment in refineries
Rice's team prevailed over competitors from six other US universities by developing a plan that would grow microalgae capable of utilizing waste nutrients in order to purify refinery wastewater.

Rice junior chosen for a Beinecke Scholarship
Rice University's Blaque Robinson is one of 20 college students across the country selected for a 2015 Beinecke Scholarship. The $34,000 award supports graduate education in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

42 teams from around the world to compete in 2015 Rice Business Plan Competition
Forty-two teams hailing from some of the world's top universities will vie for more than $1.6 million in prizes at the 15th annual Rice Business Plan Competition (RBPC) at Rice University's Jones Graduate of Business April 16-18. It is the world's richest and largest student startup competition of its kind and hosted by the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship and the Jones Graduate School of Business.
