Director's Note
The college search is one of the most unique yet overwhelming experiences in our lives. For many people, it’s the first chance we get to have substantial bearing on our own destiny—the opportunity to choose a major component of the toolbox that will serve us the rest of our lives. It’s both daunting and exciting, because we’ve never before been trusted with such responsibility, but it’s actually the start of a new trend where we’re in charge.
And determining your own future is swell, but it doesn’t hurt to have some help along the way with such a task. That’s where we come in. The Student Admissions Council is a campus organization made up of students from every academic field, social scene, and hometown background at Rice who have in common a borderline fanatical love of our school’s culture and the desire to share what’s so great about it with visiting students.
I’m absolutely confident that every member of SAC—from tour guides to lunch hosts to online forum moderators—is eager to meet you and tell you about their incredible experiences at Rice simply because they love it here. I was told as a prospie (term of endearment for prospective students at Rice) that interacting with as many students as possible is the best way to assess any university, and Rice is no exception. The people are doubtlessly what makes this a fantastic place to study and live.
If you have any questions whatsoever—or are a current Rice student aspiring to volunteer—definitely shoot us an email at ricesac@rice.edu. We’ll be looking forward to your campus visit!
Cheers,
